Keywords & Effect Notations

This section covers notations confirmed on officially revealed card faces and official site descriptions. The rulebook and comprehensive rules are not yet public, so no official definitions have been announced. New notations are added as they are confirmed.

Ability Keywords

[Rush]
An ability keyword that lets a character attack on the turn it is summoned. On Ino Yamanaka (N-011) the card face spells out its meaning in reminder text — "(This card can attack on the turn in which it is summoned.)" — making it the only ability keyword whose meaning is confirmed so far. It also implies that characters normally cannot attack on the turn they are summoned. Both temporary grants (Ino Yamanaka) and printed copies (EX Naruto Uzumaki N-003, EX Sasuke Uchiha N-014, and the conditional Minato Namikaze N-007) have been confirmed.

[Recovery]
An effect header printed on both revealed Leader cards (Naruto Uzumaki N-001 and Sasuke Uchiha N-012). The text is identical on both: from turn 2 onward, rest this card and turn all of your Chakra face up — letting you rest your Leader to flip all spent (face-down) Chakra back face up at once. The "from turn 2 onward" condition suggests it cannot be used on the first player's opening turn.

Timing

[Activate: Main]
A timing header for effects you actively choose to use. The English notation [Activate: Main] suggests these activate during your Main Phase (official phase names and turn structure are unannounced). The text follows a "cost: effect" format — what you pay before the colon, what happens after it. Confirmed on both Leaders (N-001, N-012) and Ino Yamanaka (N-011); notably, the [Activate: Main] on Naruto Uzumaki (N-001) is not accompanied by [Once Per Turn], a wording difference worth watching.

[On Summon]
A timing header for effects that trigger when a character is summoned onto the field. First confirmed on Gamabunta (N-005) — summon 1 non-EX "Naruto Uzumaki", "Jiraiya", or "Minato Namikaze" from your Trash — and since then on the EX Characters (N-003, N-014, N-022) and Itachi Uchiha (N-013). It headlines powerful effects such as summoning from the Trash or deck and KO removal.

[When Attacking]
A timing header for effects that trigger when the character attacks. First confirmed as [When Attacking] on the English demo card Jugo (N-019) distributed at Gen Con 2026, where it headlines an effect that reveals the top card of your deck and summons it if it meets the condition — developing your board while attacking. Jugo is the only one of the 38 revealed entries to carry this header, which makes it the only card so far on which attacking itself produces a reward; the other eleven cards whose text mentions attacking either enable an attack or are played by the defender. Whether the trigger fires on declaration or after resolution, and whether the effect survives an interrupted attack, has not been announced.

[During Your Main]
A timing header for Support effects you can activate during your own Main Phase. First confirmed as [During Your Main] on English demo cards at Gen Con 2026 (Naruto Uzumaki N-004 "Rasengan" and Sasuke Uchiha "Chidori: One Thousand Birds"), both headlining a board-wide KO. It shows that Supports are not only reactive interrupts like [During Your Opponent's Attack] — some are fired proactively on your own turn.

[Your Turn]
A timing header for conditions and effects that apply during your own turn. First confirmed as [Your Turn] on the English demo card Minato Namikaze (N-007) at Gen Con 2026, where it headlines "if this character has 10 or more power, it gains [Rush]" — an effect that appears to apply continuously while its condition is met.

[During Your Opponent's Attack]
A timing header for Support effects you can activate while your opponent is attacking. First confirmed on Shikamaru Nara (N-008) — summon this card and interrupt that attack — it matches the official site's pitch: "Use Chakra to activate face down support cards. Unleash Ninjutsu to stop their attacks!" It has since appeared on Jiraiya (N-006), Karin (N-010), Hinata Hyuga, Sakura Haruno, and Orochimaru; at six cards it is the most common Support timing confirmed so far. The effects fall into four families: K.O. (Jiraiya, Orochimaru, Hinata), interrupting the attack (Shikamaru), bounce (Sakura), and Life gain (Karin). Note that only Shikamaru's text refers to "that attack" — the other five never state that the attack stops, and what becomes of an attack when the attacker is K.O.'d has not been announced.

[Support Activated]
A timing header for effects that trigger in response to a Support being activated. First confirmed as [Support Activated] on Kakashi Hatake (N-009) "Lightning Blade" and Shisui Uchiha (N-016) "Koto Amatsukami" in photos from Gen Con 2026. Both read "negate that card," making them counters fired against an opponent's Support. The price of negation differs per card — Kakashi pays 2 Life, while Shisui cannot turn his Chakra face up until the End Phase of his next turn.

[Quick]
One of the timing headers for Support effects. First confirmed as [Quick] on Choji Akimichi and Suigetsu Hozuki (N-021) in scans of the English demo decks from Gen Con 2026. On both cards it precedes an effect that summons the card itself while resolving the Support. Unlike explicit windows such as [During Your Opponent's Attack] or [During Your Main], exactly when a [Quick] Support can be activated is not yet known.

Usage Limits

[Once Per Turn]
A notation marking how many times an effect can be used. Sasuke Uchiha (Leader, N-012) and Ino Yamanaka (N-011) print it right after [Activate: Main]. Naruto Uzumaki (Leader, N-001) notably lacks it — read literally, an activated effect without this notation might be usable multiple times per turn as long as you can pay its cost (official rules unannounced).

Play & Summon

[Summon Requirements]
The notation stating what it takes to summon an EX Character. It is always paired with the line "This card cannot be played normally." and replaces the usual Chakra-cost summon. All four confirmed EX Characters carry it, and on all four the payment goes to the same place — your own trash. From lightest to heaviest: Manda (N-022) takes 1 of your Characters; Gamabunta (N-005) takes 1 of your Characters with 10 or more power; Naruto Uzumaki (N-003) takes 1 of your Characters plus 1 with 10 or more power; and Sasuke Uchiha (N-014) takes 1 of your Characters plus 1 with the {The Taka} trait — 6 Characters placed in the trash across the four cards. Not one revealed [Summon Requirements] asks for Chakra. Whether the Characters you place must be on the field, or may also come from hand, is unannounced.

[Support]
The header for a Character card's Support effect, written as [Support] plus a jutsu name (e.g. Shadow Imitation Jutsu, Rasengan). The official site describes Chakra cards as "cards required to activate support cards like Ninjutsu," so these effects appear to be paid for with Chakra. It signals that one card has two uses — summon it as a character, or fire it as a Support — a notation at the heart of how this game plays.
