Key points

  • The release window is now Summer 2027, as a simultaneous worldwide release (previously only “2027”)
  • A new “About the NARUTO Card Game” page went live, along with a game overview video
  • The game uses five card types: Leader Card, Character Cards, EX Character, Chakra Cards, and Summon Cards
  • Battles start with 1 Leader card, a 50-card deck, 5 Chakra cards, and 1 Summon card, and you win by reducing your opponent Leader’s Life to 0
  • The About page’s artwork gallery includes 12 sample card images, giving a first look at on-card text such as card names and traits
  • The card-type introduction and how-to-play diagrams on the same page show per-type sample cards — 7 cards including the Leader “Naruto Uzumaki” (N-001) — revealing card numbers and effect text for the first time
  • An event roadmap was published: more news coming at New York Comic Con 2026, with demo events across Europe, Australia, and the US
  • Event information for BANDAI CARD GAMES Fest 26-27 (11 cities worldwide) was published the same day

Game overview: five card types and how battles work

The new About page explains the game’s basic structure officially for the first time, under the tagline “Read your rival, Unleash Ninjutsu!”

The five card types are:

Card type Official description
Leader Card The Leader card that your deck is built around
Character Cards Chosen based on your Leader’s color, they form your front line in battle. Some can activate Ninjutsu by paying the required Chakra cost
EX Character Powerful Character cards that can be played once you reach certain play conditions
Chakra Cards Cards required to activate support cards like Ninjutsu
Summon Cards Cards required to play Character cards onto the battlefield

The core rules revealed so far:

  • Battle with 1 Leader card, a deck of 50 cards, 5 Chakra cards, and 1 Summon card
  • Win by reducing your opponent’s Leader’s Life to 0
  • Rest your Summon card to bring a character onto the field
  • Use Chakra to activate face-down support cards and unleash Ninjutsu to swing the battle

The phrase “chosen based on your Leader’s color” confirms a color system built around Leaders. Note that the English site goes slightly further than the Japanese one, describing support cards as being played face down and activated with Chakra.

The series lineup covers the TV anime NARUTO, NARUTO: SHIPPUDEN, and BORUTO: NARUTO NEXT GENERATIONS. Card illustrations include original art by various creators as well as artwork from the original manga.

Card names and traits visible on the sample card images

The artwork gallery on the About page displays 12 sample card images with a SAMPLE watermark. The card frame shows a “DMG” value at the top left, “POW” and “HP” values at the top right, and the card name, traits, and card type (CHARACTER) along the bottom. The following 12 cards can be identified (wording as printed on the English-version images):

# Card name Traits
1 Orochimaru Special / The Legendary Sannin / Village Hidden in the Sound
2 Boruto Uzumaki Lightning / Hidden Leaf Village
3 Sasuke Uchiha Special / Hidden Leaf Village
4 Naruto Uzumaki Special / Hidden Leaf Village
5 Jiraiya Special / Hidden Leaf Village
6 Itachi Uchiha Special / Akatsuki Organization
7 Sasuke Uchiha Lightning / The Taka
8 Naruto Uzumaki Wind / Hidden Leaf Village
9 Sakura Haruno Special / Hidden Leaf Village
10 Tsunade Special / Hidden Leaf Village
11 Sasuke Uchiha Lightning / Uchiha Clan
12 Naruto Uzumaki Special / Jinchuriki / Hidden Leaf Village / Team 7

A few more details can be confirmed:

  • All 12 cards carry the card type “CHARACTER”
  • The printed stats are identical across all 12 cards (DMG 3 / POW 6 / HP 6), so they may be shared placeholder values for the samples — whether they are the final printed values is unconfirmed
  • No card numbers, rarities, costs, or effect text appear on the sample images
  • The Japanese site carries Japanese-language versions of the same 12 images, confirming the official Japanese names and traits. Only Orochimaru’s trait line differs between languages: the Japanese image reads “特/雨隠れの里” (Village Hidden in the Rain), while the English image reads “Special / The Legendary Sannin / Village Hidden in the Sound”
  • Cards 11 and 12 (the anime-style Sasuke Uchiha and Naruto Uzumaki) carry a “Yasuhiko Kanezuka” illustrator credit on the card edge

All 12 cards have been added to our card database exactly as printed.

The card-type introduction also shows sample cards with effect text

Separately from the artwork gallery, the card-type introduction and how-to-play diagrams on the About page display SAMPLE-watermarked (and NOT FOR SALE-marked) sample cards. These are the first cards whose card numbers and effect text can be read off the card face. Seven cards can be identified (the products they will appear in are all unannounced):

Card name Type / Card no. Stats Traits
Naruto Uzumaki Leader / N-001 DMG 1, POW 3, LIFE 15 Wind / Jinchuriki / Hidden Leaf Village / Team 7
Sasuke Uchiha Leader / no. hidden in the diagram DMG 1, POW 3, LIFE 15 Fire / Lightning / Uchiha Clan / The Taka
Shikamaru Nara Character / N-008 Chakra 1, DMG 1, POW 6, HP 4 Special / Hidden Leaf Village / Team 10
Ino Yamanaka Character / N-011 DMG 2, POW 5, HP 8 Special / Hidden Leaf Village / Team 10
Gamabunta EX Character / N-005 DMG 2, POW 10, HP 8 Water / Toad / Mount Myoboku
Chakra Card Chakra / C-001
Summon Card Summon / S-001

The effect text is also legible (as printed on the English-version images):

  • Naruto Uzumaki (Leader): [Activate: Main] Flip 1 of your CHAKRA face-down and choose 1 Character: The chosen card gets +3 power during this turn. / [Recovery] If it is the second turn or later, rest this card and flip all of your CHAKRA face-up.
  • Sasuke Uchiha (Leader): [Activate: Main] [Once Per Turn] Draw 1 card and place 1 card from your hand on top of your deck. / [Recovery] — same wording as Naruto Uzumaki.
  • Shikamaru Nara: [Support] Shadow Possession Jutsu — [During Your Opponent’s Attack] Summon this card and interrupt that attack.
  • Ino Yamanaka: [Activate: Main] [Once Per Turn] If you have [Shikamaru Nara] and [Choji Akimichi] on the field, your [Ino Yamanaka], [Shikamaru Nara], and [Choji Akimichi] all gain [Rush] and +5 power/+1 damage during this turn. (This card can attack on the turn in which it is summoned.)
  • Gamabunta: Cannot be summoned normally. [Summon Requirements] Place 1 of your Characters with 10 or more power in your trash. [On Summon] Summon 1 non-EX [Naruto Uzumaki], [Jiraiya], or [Minato Namikaze] Character from your trash.
  • Chakra Card: When using Chakra, turn this card face-down.
  • Summon Card: You may rest this card to summon a Character card.

The card faces also confirm several new facts:

  • Leader cards carry a LIFE stat — both sample Leaders show LIFE 15 (its relationship to the “Life” you must reduce to 0, and whether it is the starting value, is unannounced)
  • Both Leaders and Shikamaru Nara have DMG 1, printed as a stylized numeral with a lightning-bolt motif (Ino Yamanaka and Gamabunta show DMG 2)
  • Character cards are paid for with Chakra (Shikamaru Nara costs 1). Cards with named-jutsu Support effects cover the reaction side of the game — Shikamaru can be summoned during your opponent’s attack to interrupt it
  • Chakra cards turn face-down when used, and the Leader’s [Recovery] effect flips them face-up again — confirming a resource system built around face-up/face-down Chakra management. [Recovery] has identical wording on both Leaders, suggesting it may be a shared Leader mechanic
  • The keyword [Rush] exists (a card with it can attack the turn it is summoned), and Ino Yamanaka’s text confirms that a [Choji Akimichi] card exists
  • Card numbers are prefixed by type: N- (Leader, Character, EX Character), C- (Chakra), S- (Summon)
  • Next to the card number are what appears to be a rarity mark (“L” on Naruto Uzumaki, “C” on Shikamaru Nara, Ino Yamanaka, and Gamabunta) and a circled “1” icon whose meaning is unannounced
  • Effect labels visible so far include [Activate: Main], [Support], [During Your Opponent’s Attack], [Summon Requirements], [On Summon], [Once Per Turn], and [Rush]

All 7 cards have been added to our card database exactly as printed.

Release window: Summer 2027, worldwide

You can also track confirmed facts on our timeline and event calendar.

Event roadmap: demo events around the world

Notably, the roadmap promises that “more new information will be revealed at New York Comic Con”, making NYCC 2026 the next major reveal to watch.

Event information for BANDAI CARD GAMES Fest 26-27 was also published the same day: an event bringing together BANDAI CARD GAMES titles across 11 cities worldwide, with events and merchandise sales for each region’s titles. According to the BANDAI CARD GAMES Fest 26-27 official site, the 11 cities include Tokyo (planned for early 2027) as well as Taipei (December 2026) and Hong Kong (November 2026), and the NARUTO CARD GAME is listed among the participating titles.

While every convention on the roadmap (NYCC, PAX Aus, Spiel Essen, Paris Games Week, Lucca) is outside Japan, the Tokyo stop of BANDAI CARD GAMES Fest 26-27 may become the first opportunity in Japan — details are yet to be announced.

What has not been announced yet

  • The exact release date, pricing, and product lineup (starter decks, boosters, etc.)
  • Detailed rules (turn structure, starting Life total, the list of colors, and so on)
  • The full official card list (the 7 card-type and how-to-play samples above reveal card numbers and effect text, but their products are unannounced; the 12 artwork-gallery cards show names and traits only)
  • Details of events in Japan (the Tokyo stop of BANDAI CARD GAMES Fest 26-27 is only listed as “early 2027”)

We will keep organizing new information on this site as it is confirmed. Starting tomorrow, July 30, the world’s first demo event kicks off at Gen Con 2026 in Indianapolis — we plan to cover any rules and card details that emerge from the sessions.
