Only 4 Cards Touch [Rush] — The Design Around "Attacking the Turn You Summon," and the Power 10 Line That Shows Up in Three Places
This article is commentary and analysis by this site. To keep it distinct from official facts, reasoning and speculation are clearly labeled.
In any TCG, “can it attack the turn it hits the board” decides the speed of the game. A turn of delay is a turn your opponent gets to answer, rebuild, or re-block.
In the NARUTO Card Game, the keyword that crosses that line is [Rush]. The card face of Ino Yamanaka (N-011) spells out its meaning in reminder text: “(This card can attack on the turn in which it is summoned.)” Which also tells us the default — Characters normally cannot attack the turn they are summoned.
So how many exceptions exist? Reading the effect text on all 38 entries in our card database, only four cards touch [Rush]. And lining those four up surfaced a second number: power 10.
Basis for this article: the figures below are compiled from the 38 entries in our card database. Sources are the sample images on the official “About NARUTO CARD GAME” page and scans of the English-language demo cards distributed at Gen Con 2026 (SAMPLE watermark, NOT FOR SALE marking); each card page records its source URL. The official rulebook and card list are still unpublished, and demo-card specifications may differ from the retail release. Anything speculative is flagged as such.
1. The four cards that touch [Rush]
| Card | Type | Power | How it gets [Rush] |
|---|---|---|---|
| N-003Naruto Uzumaki N-003 | EX | 11 | Printed on the card |
| N-014Sasuke Uchiha N-014 | EX | 10 | Printed on the card |
| N-007Minato Namikaze N-007 | Character | 8 | Grants itself [Rush] conditionally (at power 10+) |
| N-011Ino Yamanaka N-011 | Character | 5 | Grants three cards [Rush] conditionally (Activate Main, once per turn) |
Four cards — but they split cleanly into two that have it and two that gain it.
2. Finding 1: only two cards print it — and they are 2 of the 4 EX cards
[Rush] is printed on EX Naruto Uzumaki (N-003) and EX Sasuke Uchiha (N-014), and nowhere else.
The easy thing to miss: being an EX Character does not come with [Rush]. Four EX cards are revealed, and
- Gamabunta N-005 (power 10)
- Manda N-022 (power 8)
carry no [Rush] line at all. “Expensive finisher, therefore attacks immediately” is not the design here.
Both cards that do print it share a name with a Leader (Naruto Uzumaki / Sasuke Uchiha). For more on the EX cards, see our introduction to EX Characters.
3. Finding 2: the two conditional grants point in opposite directions
The other two gain [Rush] only under a condition — and those conditions are exact opposites.
Self-contained — Minato Namikaze (N-007)
[Your Turn] If this Character has 10 or more power, this Character gains [Rush].
It reads only its own power. No other card needs to be on the field. But its printed power is 8, so it does not meet its own condition unaided (more on this below).
Team-dependent — Ino Yamanaka (N-011)
[Activate: Main] [Once Per Turn] If you have “Shikamaru Nara” and “Choji Akimichi”, your “Ino Yamanaka”, “Shikamaru Nara” and “Choji Akimichi” all gain [Rush] and get +5 power / +1 damage during this turn.
The condition is two other cards being on the field. In exchange, it turns on three cards at once — the only revealed effect that hands [Rush] to multiple Characters.
“Ino-Shika-Cho are strong together” from the source material, written directly into an effect.
4. Finding 3: “power 10 or more” is a line that appears three times
Here is what only became visible after lining the four up. The phrase “power 10 or more” appears in three separate places.
| Card | How “power 10 or more” is used |
|---|---|
| N-007Minato Namikaze N-007 | Gains [Rush] if its own power is 10+ |
| N-003Naruto Uzumaki N-003 | [Summon Requirement] Trash 1 of your Characters and 1 of your Characters with power 10 or more |
| N-005Gamabunta N-005 | [Summon Requirement] Trash 1 of your Characters with power 10 or more |
Meanwhile, of the 20 Characters whose printed power is legible, only three sit at 10 or above.
Only three EX cards clear the line unaided, and the best non-EX Character, Jugo (N-019), sits at 9 — one short.
That creates a small loop: to summon EX Naruto or Gamabunta you must trash “a Character with power 10 or more,” but the only Characters that natively have power 10 or more are EX cards, which themselves need requirements met.
5. Finding 4: only three cards can push anything over the line
So how many effects raise power? Searching for “+power” and “double” across the text turns up three.
| Card | Amount | Target | How it fires |
|---|---|---|---|
| N-001Naruto Uzumaki N-001 (Leader) | +3 | 1 Character | [Activate: Main] turn 1 of your Chakra face-down |
| Choji Akimichi (Multi-Size Technique) | ×2 | 1 Character | [Support] [Quick] |
| N-011Ino Yamanaka N-011 | +5 | your Ino / Shikamaru / Choji | [Activate: Main] [Once Per Turn], all three must be present |
Applied to the power 10 line:
- The Leader’s +3 brings 6 non-EX Characters to 10 (Jugo 9 / Minato 8 / Itachi 8 / Choji 7 / Jiraiya 7 / Kakashi 7)
- Choji’s ×2 brings 13 non-EX Characters to 10 (every Character printed at power 5 or more)
- Ino’s +5 is limited to three targets, but takes Ino 5→10, Shikamaru 6→11, Choji 7→12 — all three cross the line simultaneously
Minato is the standout. Printed at power 8, he reaches 11 from a single use of Naruto Uzumaki (N-001)‘s Leader effect — and by his own text, gains [Rush]. Read literally, the Leader effect is Minato’s Rush switch.
And Sasuke Uchiha (N-012)‘s Leader effect raises no power at all (it draws and puts a card on top of the deck). Within what is revealed, only the Naruto side can cross the power line with its Leader alone — another instance of the asymmetry we covered in how to read the Leader cards.
6. The risk waiting on the other side of a Rush attack (premise unconfirmed)
One more thing worth holding in mind: the risk carried by the attacker.
Two revealed removal effects target rested Characters only (Jiraiya N-006 and Orochimaru — each K.O.s up to two, [During Your Opponent’s Attack]). Details are in our analysis of removal cards.
If attacking is what rests a Character, then swinging with a board full of Rush is exactly the play those two punish hardest. However —
how a Character comes to be rested has not been announced. This stays a conditional reading, not a conclusion.
7. Still unannounced
- Whether a temporary power boost counts for an EX [Summon Requirement]. If +3 or ×2 can manufacture “a Character with power 10 or more,” EX cards become far easier to deploy. The timing of the check is unannounced too
- When [Rush] is checked. Minato’s case — power raised after he is already on the field — reads as workable from the text, but there is no official ruling
- What causes a Character to be rested (attacking, or other triggers as well)
- The premise itself that Characters cannot attack the turn they are summoned. It is readable from Ino’s reminder text, but no rulebook has stated it
- Whether [Quick] can be used during your own main phase (this directly decides whether Choji’s doubling is usable as a power fixer)
Summary
- Four of the 38 revealed entries touch [Rush]. Only EX Naruto (N-003) and EX Sasuke (N-014) print it; the other EX cards, Gamabunta and Manda, do not
- The two conditional grants are opposites: Minato is self-contained (power 10+), Ino is team-dependent (Ino-Shika-Cho) — and Ino’s is the only multi-target grant
- “Power 10 or more” is a line appearing three times (Minato’s Rush condition, the summon requirements of EX Naruto and Gamabunta). Only three EX cards clear it unaided; the best non-EX is Jugo at 9
- Three cards push anything over that line (Leader +3 / Choji ×2 / Ino +5). Minato gains [Rush] from the Naruto Leader’s +3 alone, and the Sasuke Leader has no power boost
