Every Confirmed Character Stat Line, Side by Side — The DMG/POW/HP Baseline and the Three Tiers It Reveals
This article is commentary and analysis by this site. To keep it distinct from official facts, reasoning and speculation are clearly labeled.
When a new card is revealed, the fastest route to answering “is this good?” is knowing the baseline. Whether POW 7 is high or low, whether HP 4 is fragile or standard — you only find out by lining a card up against the others.
Between the July 29 reveal and the Gen Con 2026 demo cards, the NARUTO Card Game now has 20 Characters with readable stat lines — four of them EX Characters. Add the Leaders and it is 22. That is a sliver of the eventual card pool, but it is enough to start reading the baseline.
This article puts all 20 into a single table and works out what is standard and what is the exception.
Scope note: this is compiled from cards already logged in our card database. Cards without a card number were read from scans of English-language demo cards handed out at Gen Con 2026 (SAMPLE watermark, NOT FOR SALE). Neither the official rulebook nor the card list has been published, and numbers may change in the retail product.
What the three numbers mean
A quick refresher — how to read a card face covers this in full. A Character card carries three stats.
| Label | Name | What it represents |
|---|---|---|
| DMG | Damage | The value dealt when that Character’s attack connects |
| POW | Power | The value compared in combat; also referenced by card effects |
| HP | Hit Points | How much that Character can absorb |
Leader cards carry LIFE in place of HP, and both confirmed Leaders sit at LIFE 15.
All 20 confirmed Characters
Sorted by DMG, then POW. The “Support” column marks whether the card carries a [Support] line you can set face-down — the dual-role cards covered in reading face-down Supports.

Finding 1: POW+HP splits into three bands
Sort by the combined total and all 20 land in three clean bands.
| Tier | Count | POW+HP | Breakdown |
|---|---|---|---|
| Characters with a Support | 12 | 9–11 | two at 9, six at 10, four at 11 |
| Non-EX Characters without a Support | 4 | 13–16 | one at 13, three at 16 |
| EX Characters | 4 | 18–21 | two at 18, two at 21 |
Between the bands sit two gaps, at 12 and at 17. With a sample of only 20 that is worth stating carefully — but boundaries this sharp are hard to explain as coincidence, and they suggest a design budget applied to the stat total.
Put another way:
Carrying a Support — a second, face-down mode — costs roughly 4–5 points of stats.
A Character with a Support can be played as a Character or set face-down and activated as a jutsu. It pays for that flexibility with a smaller body. One card, two ways to pay: board presence, or optionality.
Caveat: this is a pattern read off 19 confirmed cards, not something Bandai has stated. As the pool grows, cards that break the bands may well appear.
[Updated 2026-08-09] The back-solve was right — Choji’s HP is 3
At publication, Choji Akimichi’s HP was unconfirmed: the bottom of his card face is cut off in the available scan. This article back-solved from the band and predicted that if the Support tier (9–11) held, his HP had to be somewhere in the 2–4 range.
It has since been confirmed at HP 3 (now reflected in our card database). POW 7 + HP 3 = 10, landing squarely in the middle of the Support tier.
| Predicted by back-solve | Actual | |
|---|---|---|
| Choji Akimichi’s HP | 2–4 | 3 |
| POW+HP total | 9–11 | 10 |
A small result, but a meaningful one: assuming the bands exist let us narrow down an unknown value, which is itself evidence for the read. All 20 confirmed Characters now have a complete stat line, and the Support tier holds at 9–11 across all 12 of its cards. Every table and tally above has been updated to the confirmed figure.
Finding 2: DMG 1 is standard, 2 is premium, 3 is EX-only
Here is how DMG is distributed across the 20.
- DMG 1 (11): every Support-carrying Character except Sakura Haruno
- DMG 2 (7): Sakura Haruno / Ino Yamanaka / Minato Namikaze / Itachi Uchiha / Jugo / Manda (EX) / Gamabunta (EX)
- DMG 3 (2): Naruto Uzumaki N-003 (EX) / Sasuke Uchiha N-014 (EX)
DMG 1 is the majority, so treat it as the standard. And DMG 3 appears only on EX Characters — specifically on the two with the highest POW in the game.
Because Leader LIFE is 15, a single point of DMG translates directly into how many attacks it takes to win.
Going from DMG 1 to DMG 2 nearly halves the count; DMG 3 cuts it to a third. “+1 DMG” is enormously valuable in this game. That makes Ino Yamanaka N-011’s [Activate: Main] granting “+5 power and +1 damage” together look very deliberate.
Unconfirmed: whether a connecting attack reduces Leader LIFE by exactly the DMG value, or whether some other step applies, is not settled — the rulebook is unpublished. The chart above assumes LIFE drops by the DMG value.
Finding 3: POW runs 4–11, and there is a wall at 10
Here is the POW distribution.
POW 10 or higher is, so far, exclusive to EX Characters. The highest non-EX is Jugo N-019 at 9 — one point short.
That gap matters beyond baselines, because Naruto Uzumaki N-003 and Gamabunta N-005 both carry a [Summon Requirement] of “Place 1 of your Characters with 10 or more power in your trash.” With no non-EX Character naturally reaching 10, meeting that requirement means one of two things:
- Trashing an EX Character (using an EX to summon an EX)
- Pushing power to 10 or higher with an effect — Leader N-001’s [Activate: Main] for +3, Choji Akimichi’s Support for double power, Ino Yamanaka N-011’s [Activate: Main] for +5, and so on
Jugo at 9 plus the Leader’s +3 is 12; a POW 7 Character doubled by Choji is 14. So power-pumping effects are not merely combat tricks — they double as the switch that turns on EX summons. We touched on this in the EX Character guide; laying out the POW distribution makes the wall at 10 much more visible.
Unconfirmed: whether a temporary power boost counts toward the “10 or more power” check in a [Summon Requirement] cannot be confirmed while the rulebook is unpublished. A ruling that it does not still seems possible.
Finding 4: Rarity does not track stat size
Grouping by rarity produces a surprise.
| Rarity | Count | POW+HP range |
|---|---|---|
| C (Common) | 5 | 10 – 18 |
| R (Rare) | 6 | 9 – 18 |
| SR (Super Rare) | 5 | 11 – 21 |
| unconfirmed | 4 | 9 – 16 |
| L (Leader) | 2 | — |
A Common — Gamabunta N-005 — is POW 10 / HP 8 for a total of 18, and the Rare Manda N-022 also hits 18. Both tower over the SRs Jiraiya N-006 and Orochimaru, each sitting at 11.
So rarity appears to track card type and role, not raw numbers. An EX Character has big stats even at Common; a Support-carrying Character has modest stats even at SR. The practical takeaway: do not use rarity as a proxy for strength.
That is common enough across TCGs, but it is useful to see it confirmed in actual numbers. The principle from the basics of evaluating a card — measure by role and cost, not by how flashy it looks — applies directly.
How to use this table — three questions for any new card
Once the card list drops, these 20 will be a rounding error. The value of holding a baseline does not change. When you see a new card, run these three checks in order.
- What is POW+HP? — 9–11 means Support-tier, 13–16 means board-focused, 18+ means EX-class. If a total sits outside the bands, look for the special condition or drawback paying for it
- Is DMG 1, or 2+? — 2 or higher alone means “roughly twice as fast at taking down LIFE 15.” A high total and DMG 2+ is a card to watch
- Does POW reach 10, or can you get it there? — this may gate EX [Summon Requirements]
These three are the numeric half of the four lenses — role, cost, timing, replaceability — from the basics of evaluating a card.
What we still do not know
- What the cost number on a card face means — Support-carrying Characters show a number, but whether it is the Chakra cost to activate the Support or the cost to summon the Character is unannounced (the same premise we flagged in the face-down Support article)
- How POW and HP are used in combat — whether powers are compared, whether DMG reduces HP, and the exact sequence, all await the rulebook
- The full rarity scheme — whether anything beyond C / R / SR / L exists is unannounced
- Whether stats have a ceiling — POW 11 and HP 11 are the current highs, but we do not know if that is the cap
Every confirmed card is listed one by one in the card database. For card faces see how to read a card, for effect notation see the keyword roundup, for trump cards see the EX Character guide, and for the roster and its same-name versions see all 20 characters across 34 cards. We will update this tally each time new cards are confirmed.
