Counting the 38 revealed entries again turned up thirteen zeros — the official site explains that characters are built around the Leader's color, yet not one card's color is known. An inventory of every blank, on NYCC opening day
This article is commentary and analysis by this site. To keep it distinct from official facts, reasoning and speculation are clearly labeled.
New York Comic Con 2026 opened on October 8, local time. It is day one of the four days that the official roadmap published at the July 29 information reveal marks as “New info reveals”.
Only one announcement slot has a confirmed date and time: the “NARUTO: What’s Next?” panel, 6:00–7:00 AM JST on Sunday, October 11 (our September 30 article). As for what will be announced, the official wording says no more than “the latest information on the NARUTO CARD GAME”.
So this article will not predict anything. It does something more useful instead.
It lists every blank.
On October 8, 2026 we recounted, field by field, the 38 entries in our card database, our product database and the pre-order and lottery hub. Thirteen fields currently sit at zero.
Scope of this article: everything below is a full count taken on October 8, 2026 from the data registered in our card database, product database and pre-order and lottery hub. The card sources are the sample images on the official “About the NARUTO Card Game” page, the official playmat handed out at Gen Con 2026, and scans of the English-version demo cards distributed at Gen Con 2026 (SAMPLE watermark, NOT FOR SALE marking); each card page carries its own source URL. The official rulebook and card list are unpublished. The demo cards may also differ from the retail release. Every “zero” in this article means “not yet published”, not “no such card exists” — §3 sets out that distinction in detail.
1. The thirteen fields at zero
Four printed-card fields with nothing in them
The most surprising one is color.
The Card Types section of the official site describes Character cards like this:
Chosen based on your Leader’s color, Character cards form your front line in battle.
In other words, the official site states that color exists as a system. Yet of the 38 entries, the color of zero cards is confirmed. The card list has a color filter built into its UI, but with no data behind it, it never appears.
The other three are the same in character.
- Cards with a confirmed product set: 0
The set field is filled on exactly two entries — the CP-001 Chakra Card and its New York Yankees Ver. — and in both cases the value is “Promotional Card”, a distribution category rather than a product name - Official rules Q&A and rulings: 0
Unsurprising while the rulebook is unpublished, but theqafield in the card database is still empty across the board - Cards with readable flavor text: 0
Neither the demo card scans nor the sample images show any printed prose other than effect text
Six things the effect text has never once said
Effect text is readable for 24 entries. Search those 24 by keyword and six more zeros fall out.
- Cards that touch HP: 0
Confirmed characters range from HP 3 to HP 11, yet not one published card moves that number by even 1 after the character is on the field. The only durability value that changes is the Leader’s LIFE, on two cards: Kakashi Hatake (N-009) takes 2 of your own Life, and Karin (N-010) gains you 2 (our October 3 article) - Cards that rest an opponent’s character: 0
Five cards touch “rest”, but all three on the resting side say “rest this card” — your own (our August 26 article) - Cards containing the word “active”: 0
The Summon Card (S-001) rests to summon a Character, but no card says when that rest ends. All we have is the Refresh Phase printed as the first phase on the official playmat - Cards that grow your hand: 0
Only Sasuke Uchiha Leader (N-012) draws at all, and it puts a card from hand on top of the deck in the same breath — net zero (our August 25 article) - Buffs that outlast a turn: 0
Every power or damage boost is worded “during this turn”; no permanent buff has been revealed (our August 12 article) - Cards with the {Earth} trait: 0
Among the five elemental traits the counts are {Lightning} 8, {Wind} 4, {Fire} 4, {Water} 2 — and {Earth} alone is at zero (our September 27 article)
Three more zeros on the product and event side
- Products you can pre-order: 0
The product database holds exactly one entry, the Official Playmat, and no pre-order or purchase link has been published for it. All nine entries in the pre-order and lottery hub are lotteries or first-come sign-ups for tutorial seats, not product pre-orders (our September 1 article) - Tutorial sessions held in Japan during 2026: 0
The only dated NARUTO demo event in Japan is the BANDAI CARD GAMES Fest 26-27 Tokyo stop, on February 20–21 and March 6–7 — in 2027 (our September 15 article) - Chances to obtain the CP-001 Chakra Card inside Japan: 0
Every announced distribution is at an overseas event; not one opportunity in Japan has been announced (our September 4 article)
2. The filled fields are not filled evenly
Beyond the thirteen zeros, nine fields are only partly filled. Lined up against the same denominator of 38, the differences are large.
The thinnest is the illustrator credit: 2 entries out of 38, both artwork versions (Sasuke Uchiha and Naruto Uzumaki). The official site promises “original illustrations created by various artists, as well as artwork from the anime and manga series” — but who drew which card is almost entirely unknown.
Chakra cost stands at 12. Part of that is structural, since Leaders and EX Characters have no cost box, but some of it is simply unreadable: on Jūgo (N-019), for instance, the cost box could not be made out from the demo card scans.
Five card numbers are still blank
Of the card numbers, 17 of the 22 slots from N-001 to N-022 are known. These five are blank:
| Blank number | Status |
|---|---|
| N-002 | Unrevealed |
| N-015 | Unrevealed |
| N-017 | Unrevealed |
| N-018 | Unrevealed |
| N-020 | Unrevealed |
On top of that, 17 entries have no readable number at all (21 of the 38 have the number field filled). Sakura Haruno, Hinata Hyūga, Chōji Akimichi, Orochimaru and Sasuke Uchiha with Chidori are all cards whose full effect text is readable while the number is not.
3. “Zero” does not mean “does not exist”
A note on how to read this.
Every one of the thirteen zeros above means “not published as of October 8, 2026”. None of them means “no such card will be in the NARUTO Card Game”.
Remember the denominator and the reason becomes obvious. Almost all 24 entries with readable effect text were revealed across two days: July 29 and July 31, 2026 (our September 10 article). And most of those come from the Gen Con 2026 demo decks — two decks assembled to teach the game to people touching it for the first time.
A teaching deck that contains no way to rest an opponent’s character, no buff that outlasts a turn and no way to grow your hand is, if anything, sensible design. Concluding from two sample decks that “this game has no X” asks far too much of the sample.
This paragraph is inference: the reasoning above is a general argument about why teaching decks omit certain effects, not an official statement. Nothing has been announced about what the retail card pool will contain.
The fields where the official site states the system exists while the value is zero are a different animal. Color is one. As long as that sentence about matching the Leader’s color sits on the official site, color is a field that must eventually be filled. The same goes for product sets, rules Q&A and pre-orders: all of those will be filled before release, planned for summer 2027.
So the thirteen zeros are really a mixed list — some are things that may genuinely not be in the retail product, and some are simply waiting to be published. The six effect-text items in §1 are the former; the four printed-card fields and the three product/event items are the latter.
4. The next announcement slot is 6:00 AM JST on October 11
As of today, October 8, 2026, no new information has landed in any of the blanks above. The official site’s latest news is still dated 2026.07.29 on the Japanese version and September 04, 2026 on the English version, both re-checked in full today (today’s re-check is also recorded in the October schedule article).
The next dated announcement slot is the “NARUTO: What’s Next?” panel, 6:00–7:00 AM JST on Sunday, October 11, streamed worldwide on the official NARUTO / BORUTO YouTube channel.
Which blanks it fills has not been announced. The official wording is “the latest information on the NARUTO CARD GAME” — it does not say card list, or product, or release date. This article exists so that you can read that announcement against this list.
