Itachi Uchiha (N-013) is the only revealed card that can choose a Leader — one of nine cards that say "choose", and the only one that reaches past the board

This is the seventh entry in our one-card analysis series. Today: Itachi Uchiha (N-013).

He has turned up in our pieces repeatedly — as one of the three cards that look at the top of the deck, and as one of the five cards with an “if” clause. But in both he was a line in a tally; we have never read the card itself.

Read head-on, Itachi is the one revealed card that can reach the opposing Leader.

What this is based on: Itachi’s card face comes from high-resolution scans of the English-version demo card handed out at Gen Con 2026, posted by an X user. Neither the official site nor the official X account has published this card face, and no Japanese version of the text exists. Because the source is not an official one, this article carries no quoted card image. The shared images show fine-text distortion that appears to come from image processing, so the cost box and rarity mark cannot be confirmed. Tallies are taken over the 38 entries in our card database — 24 with legible effect text, 20 Characters with legible stats. The official rulebook and card list are still unpublished, and anything speculative is marked as speculation.

The effect text is a single line.

[On Summon] Choose 1 Leader or Character: Reveal the top card of your deck, and if the revealed card has the {Uchiha Clan} type, the selected card cannot attack during your opponent’s next turn.

One sentence — and three separate “only revealed card that…” facts are packed into it. Let us take them in order.

2. Of the nine cards that say “choose”, only Itachi can pick a Leader

Search the 24 cards with legible text for the word “choose” and you get nine. Here is what each of them is allowed to choose.

The other eight all target “Character” and only that. They may narrow it further (non-EX, rested), but the word “Leader” appears on the target side of exactly one revealed card.

The same holds across the whole text pool: the word “Leader” appears in the effect text of only one of the 24 legible cards — this one.

From here this is speculation: As set out in our piece on Leader cards, the Leader is the single card that stays on the board, carries LIFE 15, and refreshes your CHAKRA through [Recovery]. Whether effects can touch that card is a structural question for the game. In the revealed pool it looks like reaching a Leader is written as an exception — but the sample is 24 cards, and a larger pool could easily make it ordinary.

3. There are four ways to stop an opponent, and Itachi’s belongs to only him

Pull every phrase that stops or removes an opposing card out of the 24 legible texts and you get eleven cards across five kinds.

• Cannot attack 1cards（9%）

The breakdown:

• K.O. (6) — Hinata Hyuga, Naruto Uzumaki N-004, Jiraiya N-006, Sasuke Uchiha N-014, Orochimaru, Sasuke Uchiha (Chidori). Two of them — N-004 and Chidori Sasuke — read “K.O. all Characters” and take your own board with them (see our piece on removal)
• Negate a Support (2) — Kakashi Hatake N-009 and Shisui Uchiha N-016 (see the piece on “negate”)
• Interrupt an attack (1) — Shikamaru Nara N-008
• Return to hand (1) — Sakura Haruno
• Cannot attack (1) — Itachi Uchiha N-013

What sets Itachi’s answer apart from the other four is that the card stays on the board. A K.O. sends it to the trash, a bounce sends it to hand, Shikamaru eats one attack. Itachi alone leaves the opposing card in play and switches off its function.

Unconfirmed: Nothing says whether a Character that “cannot attack” can still be set as a Support, be rested, or be chosen by effects. How far this one line reaches depends entirely on that.

4. “During your opponent’s next turn” is a duration no other card uses

Itachi stands alone on duration wording too. Re-sorting the revealed cards using the categories from our piece on how long effects last:

All four “during this turn” effects are buffs to your own side (+3 power, +5 power, doubled power, Support immunity) — fired on your turn and spent on your turn.

Itachi is summoned on your turn and takes effect on your opponent’s. As set out in our primer on face-down Supports, interacting with the opponent’s turn normally means firing a [Support]. Itachi is the only revealed card where simply putting a Character onto the board leaves something behind on the other player’s turn.

Unconfirmed: What “your opponent’s next turn” resolves to is not settled, because turn order and multiplayer handling are unannounced. In a one-on-one game, summoning on your turn most naturally points to the opponent’s turn that follows — but there is no official statement yet.

5. Miss the {Uchiha Clan} check and nothing happens

Everything above describes what happens after the condition is met. Before any of it, Itachi flips one card.

Reveal the top card of your deck, and if the revealed card has the {Uchiha Clan} type

As covered in our piece counting “if” clauses, three cards share the exact same sentence — “reveal the top card of your deck, and if…”.

None of the three says what happens on a miss (no revealed card anywhere uses “otherwise”). Whiff the flip and Itachi’s [On Summon] simply does nothing, leaving a POW 8 / HP 8 Character on the board.

So what are the odds? That comes down to how many {Uchiha Clan} cards exist.

Six revealed cards carry {Uchiha Clan}, but one of them is a Leader and never enters the deck. Since the Leader starts on the board, running Sasuke as your Leader does not improve Itachi’s hit rate by a single percentage point.

Unconfirmed: Deck size, copy limits and whether EX Characters live in the deck are all unannounced, so the odds cannot be computed. All that can be said is the direction — more {Uchiha Clan} cards, better odds — and even the method in our probability primer needs a deck size to work with.

From here this is speculation: Whether the revealed card goes back on top or stays face-up is also unannounced, but if it goes back, the information carries straight into your next draw. Exactly one revealed card can stack the top of the deck — Sasuke Uchiha N-012, whose [Activate: Main] puts a card from your hand on top. Place an {Uchiha Clan} card there, then summon Itachi, and the flip is guaranteed to hit. That sequence works on paper — but whether those two cards can share a deck (i.e. whether the Leader’s colour constrains construction) is unannounced, and there is no official statement.

6. Of the five [On Summon] cards, only Itachi is easy to play

Five revealed cards carry [On Summon] — and they split cleanly in two.

Itachi is the only [On Summon] card with no strings attached. The other four cannot arrive without feeding Characters to the trash (as read in the Gamabunta piece).

So Itachi hits the board by resting a Summon card, and the lottery spins the moment he lands. He is the cheapest [On Summon] revealed so far.

7. The four cards with no cost box — all DMG 2, all HP 7 or more

The missing CHAKRA box follows the pattern read in the Ino Yamanaka piece: the number in the cost box is the price of firing the card face-down as a [Support], not the price of putting a Character on the board. So a Character with no [Support] line has no cost box at all.

Four of the 16 revealed non-EX Characters have no cost box.

All four are DMG 2 with HP 7 or higher. As shown in the stat overview, DMG among the 16 revealed non-EX Characters runs 11 at DMG 1 and 5 at DMG 2 — so four of those five DMG 2 cards sit in this group (the fifth is Sakura Haruno).

Itachi’s POW 8 / HP 8 adds up to 16, tied for the highest non-EX total with Jugo N-019 (9+7) and Minato Namikaze N-007 (8+8). Among those three, Itachi is the one who splits it evenly between offence and defence.

From here this is speculation: It looks as though Characters without a [Support] line trade the option of being set face-down for higher baseline numbers on the board. But the official side has never described its stat design, and the sample is 16 cards.

8. {Akatsuki} appears on exactly one revealed card

Finally, the trait line: Fire / Illusion / Uchiha Clan / Akatsuki.

• {Akatsuki} — among cards with a legible face, Itachi alone (the official ARTWORK gallery’s Itachi Uchiha carries it too, but that card has no published stats or text)
• {Illusion} — two cards (Itachi and Shisui Uchiha N-016). Both also carry {Uchiha Clan}
• {Uchiha Clan} — six cards (see the table in section 5)
• {Fire} — four cards (Jiraiya N-006, N-012, N-013, N-014)

As set out in the traits round-up, effect text names exactly two traits: {Uchiha Clan} and {The Taka}. And the only card that names {Uchiha Clan} is this one ({The Taka} is named by N-014 and N-019).

From here this is speculation: {Akatsuki} appearing once is most naturally explained by the revealed pool being skewed toward the two Gen Con demo decks. Akatsuki is a large group in the source material, so more cards — and effects that name the trait — may well follow. There is nothing official pointing that way yet.

9. Still unknown

• What else a Character that “cannot attack” is barred from (being set as a Support, being rested, being chosen by effects)
• The precise definition of “your opponent’s next turn” (turn order, multiplayer)
• Whether the revealed card goes back on top of the deck (if so, your next draw is locked in)
• Deck size and copy limits — the numbers that set the hit rate
• Whether EX Characters go in the deck, which changes the effective {Uchiha Clan} count
• Whether the Leader’s colour constrains construction (can N-012 and Itachi share a deck?)
• Itachi’s cost box, rarity and product set — not legible in the scans

All of these wait on the official rulebook and card list. We will update the card database page and this article as they land.

Summary

• Of the nine revealed cards that say “choose”, only Itachi can target a Leader; the other eight take Characters only

• But the effect does nothing unless you reveal an {Uchiha Clan} card, and no card says what happens on a miss. One of the six {Uchiha Clan} cards is a Leader, which never enters the deck
• Of the five revealed [On Summon] cards, Itachi is the only one with no summon requirement
