Karin (N-010) is the only revealed card that gains Life — and the only one of six [During Your Opponent's Attack] cards that never touches the opponent

This article is commentary and analysis by this site. To keep it distinct from official facts, reasoning and speculation are clearly labeled.

This is the sixth entry in our one-card analysis series. Today: Karin (N-010).

She has appeared as a line in the tallies before — in the piece counting cards that touch Life 15 and in the piece counting cards that touch “attack”. But in both she was only “one of two” or “one of six”; we have never read the card itself.

Read head-on, Karin is the one revealed card that does nothing to the opponent.

What this is based on: Karin’s card face comes from high-resolution scans of the English-version demo card handed out at Gen Con 2026, posted by an X user. Neither the official site nor the official X account has published this card face, and no Japanese version of the text exists. The rarity mark cannot be read from the scans. Because the source is not an official one, this article carries no quoted card image. Tallies are taken over the 38 entries in our card database — 24 with legible effect text, 20 Characters with legible stats. The official rulebook and card list are still unpublished, and anything speculative is marked as speculation.

The effect text runs two lines.

[Support] Hurry up and bite me! [During Your Opponent’s Attack] Summon this card and you gain 2 Life.

The card number needs a footnote. As covered in the piece on the card numbering system, this site originally recorded N-010 as Hinata Hyuga’s number, based on venue photographs. Later high-resolution scans showed N-010 belongs to Karin, so Hinata’s number has been corrected to “unconfirmed”.

2. Two cards touch Life; only one goes up

Searching all 38 revealed entries for “Life” returns two cards.

CardWordingDirection
N-009Kakashi Hatake N-009after that, you lose 2 Lifedown, on yourself
N-010Karin N-010you gain 2 Lifeup, on yourself

Both say “you”, and no revealed card moves the opponent’s Life directly. As set out in the Life 15 piece, the picture in which the opponent’s Life only falls through attacks still holds.

On top of that, Karin is the only card that adds. She does it with exactly the number Kakashi subtracts, which makes the two a matched pair.

Speculation from here: Kakashi’s 2 is a price paid for a counter; Karin’s 2 is taken back while being attacked. One pays the 2, the other claws it back — in the revealed pool, Life looks designed around a unit of 2. But there is no official statement, and the sample is two cards.

3. How many attacks is 2 Life?

Both Leaders sit at LIFE 15. Here is what 2 is worth against that 15, counted from the revealed DMG values.

DMG across the 20 revealed Characters
  • DMG 1 11cards(55%)
  • DMG 2 7cards(35%)
  • DMG 3 2cards(10%)

Both Leaders — N-001 and N-012 — are also printed at DMG 1. So:

  • Two attacks at DMG 1 (11 revealed Characters plus both Leaders)
  • One attack at DMG 2 (seven revealed Characters)
  • Not even one attack at DMG 3 (the two revealed EX Characters)

Against 15 Life, one Karin buys back two small attacks or one medium one. Not a flashy number, but the cost is a single chakra — among the lighter prices in the revealed pool.

Unconfirmed: Nothing states whether gained Life can exceed a Leader’s LIFE 15. Does it cap, or can it climb past 15? Whether Life is tracked as cards or as a number is also unannounced, so this one waits on the rulebook. Nor does anything say what happens to the attack itself once you gain the Life — whether it stops or carries on.

4. Five of six interfere with the opponent; Karin does not

[During Your Opponent’s Attack] is the most common timing among the 12 revealed [Support] cards, at six. Sorted by what they do, they fall into four families.

FamilyCardsWhich
K.O.3Hinata Hyuga / Jiraiya N-006 / Orochimaru
Interrupt the attack1N-008Shikamaru Nara N-008
Return to hand1Sakura Haruno
Gain Life1N-010Karin N-010

The first three families all reach across the table: K.O. removes, interrupt stops the attack, bounce sends a card back to hand.

Karin alone touches nothing. You gain 2 Life and put a Character on your own field. That is the whole effect.

Do the six opponent-attack Supports interfere with the opponent?
Interferes with the opponent's board or attack5cards
Does not interfere (pure gain for you) Karin only1cards

Put her next to Shikamaru Nara (N-008), read yesterday, and the relationship snaps into focus.

Even the opening clause matches. Four revealed cards contain that phrase (Shikamaru, Karin, Choji Akimichi and Suigetsu Hozuki N-021), and as set out in reading face-down Supports, cards of this type read as staying on the field as Characters rather than going to the trash.

So firing Karin from the face-down zone hands you 2 Life plus a body on the board. Shikamaru stops an attack and gains nothing; Karin does not stop the attack but banks two kinds of value while taking the hit. Two cards built on the same sentence, pointed in opposite directions.

5. POW 4 next to HP 6, a defensive split

To the stat line. POW 4 ties for the lowest among the 20 revealed Characters with legible stats (the others are Orochimaru and Sasuke Uchiha (Chidori)), and it is the outright lowest among the eight cost-1 Characters.

At the same time, HP 6 ties for the highest at cost 1 (alongside Shisui Uchiha N-016).

Six of the eight total 10 and two total 11 — nearly one budget, split differently. Karin takes it 4:6, the most defensive split of the eight, and the exact mirror of Choji Akimichi, read earlier today at 7:3.

Speculation from here: a card whose effect never points at attacking gets the lowest power revealed, with the difference moved into HP. No power needed on a card that will not attack; high HP so it survives being attacked. But the official side has never described how stats are set, and the sample is eight cards.

6. Six cards carry {The Taka}; four of them are non-EX Characters

Karin’s traits are {Special} and {The Taka}. As set out in the trait rundown, six revealed cards carry {The Taka}.

Two revealed cards reference the trait, and both effectively point at the four non-EX Characters on that list.

So Karin is both fuel for summoning N-014 and a hit on Jugo’s reveal. As set out in the EX Character piece, EX Characters are summoned by trashing your own cards, which reads like a design where you put bodies down first and cash them in later.

That is where Karin’s timing pays off: she can enter the field during the opponent’s attack. A {The Taka} body arrives on their turn and 2 Life comes back with it, so you reach your own main phase one piece of fuel richer.

Unconfirmed: nothing states whether a Character summoned mid-attack can become the target of that attack, or whether it can be K.O.‘d immediately on arrival. That question is still open from the Shikamaru piece as well.

7. One of only two Supports whose name is not a jutsu

Finally, the first line.

[Support] Hurry up and bite me!

As set out in the piece listing all 12 Support jutsu names, every [Support] is followed by a name slot without exception. On two of the 12, though, what sits in that slot is a line of dialogue rather than a technique.

Both come from the English demo cards, and no Japanese equivalent has been announced. Given that Sakura’s “Cha!” stands in for a distinctly Japanese catchphrase in the original work, the Japanese cards will very likely read differently — but with nothing official published, this site keeps the English as printed.

Speculation from here: Karin’s “Hurry up and bite me!” refers to the scene where allies bite her to restore chakra, which lines up exactly with an effect that restores Life. The natural reading is that an action which is not a ninjutsu had no jutsu name to print, so a line of dialogue took the slot. There is no official explanation.

8. Still unknown

  • The rarity (not legible in the scans)
  • The Japanese Support name (the English reads “Hurry up and bite me!”)
  • Whether gained Life can exceed LIFE 15 (section 3)
  • What happens to the attack after the Life is gained (section 3)
  • Whether a Character summoned mid-attack can be targeted by that attack (section 6)
  • Whether Life is tracked as cards or as a number
  • The product this card is printed in

All of it waits on the official rulebook and card list. We will update the card database entry and this article as soon as anything is confirmed.

Summary

  • Karin (N-010) is a Character card at CHAKRA 1 / DMG 1 / POW 4 / HP 6, with the rarity unconfirmed
  • Only two of the 38 revealed entries touch Life: Karin adds, Kakashi Hatake (N-009) subtracts. Both say “you”, and no revealed card moves the opponent’s Life directly
  • Two Life equals two attacks at DMG 1, or one at DMG 2. A small return against LIFE 15, but the cost is a single chakra
  • Of the six [During Your Opponent’s Attack] cards, only Karin does nothing to the opponent. The other five K.O., interrupt or bounce
  • POW 4 ties for the lowest of the revealed 20 and HP 6 ties for the highest at cost 1 — the most defensive split of the same “total 10” budget
