Naruto Uzumaki (N-004) and Chidori Sasuke share an effect line word for word — and 16 of the 20 known characters have POW/HP that is either mirrored or symmetrical

Part 18 of our one-card analysis series. Today: Naruto Uzumaki (N-004).

The series started with Gamabunta (N-005), and with this entry we have now read, one at a time, every known character whose card number, stats and effect text are all legible. N-004 is the last of them.

And that last card turned up something earlier entries had missed. We are also correcting one claim in our Jiraiya (N-006) article.

What this article is based on: N-004’s card face comes from high-resolution scans of the English demo card handed out at Gen Con 2026 (SAMPLE watermark, NOT FOR SALE marking; posted by an X user). Neither the official site nor the official X accounts have published this card’s face or any Japanese text for it. Because the source is not an officially published image, this article carries no quoted card image. In addition, the card number “N-004” is read off the image and is not definitive — the print is small there (it does not conflict with the confirmed N-003, N-005 and N-006). Counts are drawn from the 38 entries in our card database (24 with readable effect text; 20 characters with readable stats).

The effect text runs two lines.

[Support] Rasengan [During Your Main] K.O. all Characters.

As established in our count of jutsu names on all 12 Support cards, “Rasengan” on line one is not an effect — it is the name of this support.

2. The effect line matches Chidori Sasuke word for word

Cross-check all 24 readable effect texts against one another and two pairs have an identical effect line.

The only differences are the jutsu name, the type line, and power/HP being swapped.

The swap is a clean mirror: N-004 at 5/4, Chidori Sasuke at 4/5. Both total 9, with the same cost and the same DMG.

This is exactly the same shape as the relationship we confirmed for Jiraiya (N-006) and Orochimaru — identical effect line, POW/HP at 7/4 ⇄ 4/7.

[Correction]: Our September 22 article on Jiraiya (N-006) said “exactly one pair has an identical effect line”. That was wrong. There are two (N-006/Orochimaru, and N-004/Chidori Sasuke Uchiha). We had already flagged this very pair as “Rasengan and Chidori share an effect” in our August 4 demo deck article and overlooked it when counting. That article has been corrected in all three languages. Nothing else changes: Jiraiya and Orochimaru are still identical to each other, their POW/HP still mirror at 7/4 ⇄ 4/7, and the other counts stand.

3. 16 of the 20 are either mirrored or symmetrical

With “two pairs are word-for-word identical” established, we cross-checked the POW/HP of all 20 known characters against one another.

Sixteen distinct POW/HP combinations appear. Here are the ones where both (P/H) and (H/P) exist among known cards.

Two further combinations are symmetrical, with POW equal to HP.

• 5/5: Hinata Hyuga, Suigetsu Hozuki N-021
• 8/8: Minato Namikaze N-007, Itachi Uchiha N-013

• Has a mirror partner 12cards（60%）
• Symmetrical (5/5, 8/8) 4cards（20%）
• Stands alone 4cards（20%）

Sixteen of the 20 fall into either the mirrored or the symmetrical group.

Only four stand alone: Shisui Uchiha (N-016) at 5/6, Ino Yamanaka (N-011) at 5/8, Choji Akimichi at 7/3 and Jūgo (N-019) at 9/7.

Speculation from here: As our read of the demo deck list set out under “design in pairs”, the Gen Con demo cards look built so that a Leader, a board wipe, a rest-removal, a support negation and a finisher EX go one apiece to the Naruto side and the Sasuke side. The POW/HP mirroring looks like an extension of that. But which cards sat in which deck has never been officially announced, and nothing official says the mirroring is deliberate. With only 20 known characters, the symmetry is likely to break as more cards are revealed.

4. [During Your Main] is printed on only these two known cards

The trigger line next. Of the 13 ability keywords in our keyword list, [During Your Main] is printed on exactly two known cards: N-004 and Chidori Sasuke Uchiha.

And both of those effects are “K.O. all Characters”. Which means —

Within what is known, [During Your Main] is the board-wipe trigger.

Here are the six known K.O. cards re-sorted by trigger.

Three of the six removals are reactive, cutting into the opponent’s attack, and only N-004 and Chidori Sasuke can be fired proactively on your own turn (N-014’s removal rides along with a summon and cannot be used on its own).

Note also that “all” carries neither “your” nor “your opponent’s”. As our removal write-up found, read literally your own characters are swept away too.

Speculation from here: A board wipe that also clears your own side, deliberately restricted to your own main phase, looks like a card meant to empty the board before doing something. The Summon Requirements of all four EX Characters do read “place your Characters in your trash”, and several effects reference the trash. But characters sent to the trash by the wipe cannot then pay a Summon Requirement — the cost is the act of placing them there, so cards already in the trash cannot pay it. What actually follows this card is a question for the rulebook.

5. N-004 is also a card that gets called

Now for cards that name other cards by name, taken from the tally in our August 28 article. Two cards name “Naruto Uzumaki”.

Gamabunta (N-005) [On Summon] Summon 1 non-EX Character “Naruto Uzumaki”, “Jiraiya” or “Minato Namikaze” from your trash.

EX Naruto Uzumaki (N-003) [On Summon] Summon up to 1 “Naruto Uzumaki” from your deck or trash with its effects negated.

What matters here is that N-005 says “non-EX”.

Six known cards are named “Naruto Uzumaki” (N-001 Leader, N-003 EX, N-004, and three art versions). Of those:

• N-001 is a Leader, so the natural reading is that it cannot be the target of a summon effect
• N-003 is an EX Character, so N-005’s “non-EX” rules it out
• The three art versions have neither stats nor effects confirmed

That leaves exactly one “Naruto Uzumaki” N-005 could actually pull back: N-004.

N-003’s version carries no “non-EX” restriction (as the previous article found, it is the only one of the four known cards that puts other cards on the board without that clause). Even so, the only non-EX body currently readable as a target — reliably retrievable from deck or trash — is N-004.

So N-004 holds three uses in one card: set it face down and spend it as a board wipe, summon it and attack, or bring it back from the trash with N-005 or N-003. Since choosing between a face-down support and a summon appears to be a one-time decision per card, that is a heavy call.

Unconfirmed: Nothing official states that a card used as a support goes to the trash. As our trash write-up noted, no official document defines what is sent there. Whether “fire the Rasengan, then fish it back with N-005” is a legal loop waits on the rulebook.

6. Only the first word of the type line differs from the Leader and the EX

Finally the type line. Here are the three “Naruto Uzumaki” cards with stats.

The last three words are the same; only the first is {Special} rather than {Wind}.

The art-version Naruto Uzumaki (Team 7) is also {Special} {Jinchuriki} {Hidden Leaf Village} {Team 7} — not one word different from N-004.

As our type tally found, {Special} is the most common word, appearing on 15 known entries.

Unconfirmed: Nothing official explains what {Special} means. It could be shorthand for “special” or a marker for colorless; there is no basis for either. The official site says only that “Character cards can be built to match your Leader’s color” (see the glossary entry for colors), and whether a {Special} character can go in a {Wind} Leader’s deck is unannounced. From the printed faces alone, we cannot even assert that N-004 belongs in N-001’s deck.

7. What is still unknown

• What {Special} means (a color? colorless? something else entirely — unannounced)
• Whether “all Characters” includes your own (no “your” or “your opponent’s” restriction is written)
• Where a card used as a support goes (whether it reaches the trash is unannounced)
• What point of the main phase [During Your Main] refers to (the four-phase structure is confirmed, but the internal order is not)
• Whether the card number really is N-004 (read from the image; the print is small and not definitive)
• Japanese card name, effect text and jutsu name (only the English demo card has been confirmed)

All of it waits on the official rulebook and card list. We will update the card database page and this article as things are confirmed.

Summary

• Naruto Uzumaki (N-004) is a Character card, rarity R: cost 2 / DMG 1 / POW 5 / HP 4, types {Special} {Jinchuriki} {Hidden Leaf Village} {Team 7}
• Its effect line matches Chidori Sasuke Uchiha word for word. Cost 2, DMG 1 and [Support] match too, and only POW/HP swap, 5/4 ⇄ 4/5 (both totalling 9)
• [Correction] Our Jiraiya (N-006) article said only one pair had an identical effect line. There are two. That article has been corrected in all three languages
• Across the 20 known characters, 12 have a POW/HP mirror partner, 4 are symmetrical, and only 4 stand alone
• [During Your Main] is printed on only these two known cards, and both are board wipes. They are also the only removals that can be fired proactively on your own turn
• N-004 is also on the receiving end: it is the only “Naruto Uzumaki” N-005 could actually pull back
• But what {Special} means, and where a spent support goes, are both unannounced — whether those three uses really work cannot be confirmed
