A euro price appears for the "-Arriving in 2027-" playmat — Lucca's reservation page now reads "€42.90, VAT included", and the first booking window opens today
The playmat has a euro price tag for the first time.
The official English Lucca Comics & Games page carries a button marked “Playmat Ticket Page.” It links to the Reserve Playmat page run by the Italian operator Play-system. Reading that page today (October 21, 2026), one line about price has been added.
The playmat costs €42.90, VAT included.
Basis for this article: everything below comes from Play-system’s Reserve Playmat (the link target of the “Playmat Ticket Page” button on the official English Lucca page), the official NARUTO Card Game pages for Lucca, SPIEL Essen and Paris Games Week, and the merchandise page for the BANDAI CARD GAMES Fest 26-27 Tokyo stop. All were retrieved and read in full on October 21, 2026. Quotations reproduce the official wording.
1. First, a correction to our own record
This has to come first.
In our October 15 article we read this same Reserve Playmat page in full and wrote:
The number available each day (“A limited number … will be available each day”) and the euro price are unannounced.
That statement is wrong as of today. We have corrected it in all three places it appeared: the article itself, the preorder and lottery hub and the product page.
We cannot establish when €42.90 was added. The page has no snapshot in the Wayback Machine at all (confirmed today via the CDX API — zero results), so there is no way to diff it mechanically against an earlier state. All we can say for certain is that it was not there on October 15 and it is there on October 21.
The number available each day is still unannounced — the wording remains “A limited number of Official NARUTO CARD GAME Playmats will be available each day,” with no figure.
2. The same product now has three price tags
What is sold at Lucca is, per the Merchandise section of the official page, the “NARUTO CARD GAME Official Playmat -Arriving in 2027-” — the same playmat that has been on sale at events since Gen Con in July 2026.
That one product now has published prices in three currencies.
| Source | Price | Tax treatment (as written) |
|---|---|---|
| BCG Fest Tokyo merchandise page | ¥3,850 | tax included |
| Official English site, event pages | MSRP $35 | (+tax) |
| Play-system “Reserve Playmat” | €42.90 | VAT included |
All three handle tax differently. The yen figure includes tax, the dollar figure excludes it, the euro figure includes VAT. Lining the numbers up as printed is not a comparison.
3. On the same tax footing, all three land on “35”
So let us strip the tax out.
- Yen: 3,850 ÷ 1.1 = ¥3,500 (Japanese consumption tax 10%)
- US dollar: US$35 (the wording is ”(+tax)”, so 35 is already the pre-tax figure)
- Euro: 42.90 ÷ 1.22 = €35.16 / 42.90 ÷ 1.20 = €35.75
There is a reason the euro has two answers. The Reserve Playmat page does not state a tax rate. Rather than assert one, we show the figure under each of the two rates most commonly applied.
Under either rate, the pre-tax euro figure lands on 35 and change. The yen figure is ¥3,500 pre-tax — the same “35” once you set the scale aside.
What that suggests is that the price was not set by converting a currency. Had US$35 been converted into euros, there would be no reason for the pre-tax euro figure to come out near 35 by coincidence. It looks instead as though “35” was fixed in each currency and local tax was added on top.
Running it the other way:
| Assumption | Calculation | Result |
|---|---|---|
| 35 pre-tax plus 22% | 35 × 1.22 | €42.70 |
| 35 pre-tax plus 20% | 35 × 1.20 | €42.00 |
| Actual published price | — | €42.90 |
The gap between €42.70 and the printed €42.90 is 20 cents — explicable as the familiar retail habit of rounding to .90, but there is no official explanation. What we can confirm stops at: the pricing looks anchored on a pre-tax 35, and how €42.90 itself was arrived at is unannounced.
We are not going to convert currencies to compare them. “How many times the Japanese ¥3,850 is €42.90” depends on which rate you pick and produces a number the publisher never stated. What we can write is the three published prices, and those prices stripped of tax.
4. The euro price exists only on the booking page
One more thing we checked.
Lucca is not the only eurozone venue. SPIEL Essen (Germany) and Paris Games Week (France) both open tomorrow, October 22, 2026, running to October 25 — a week ahead of Lucca (October 28 – November 1). They are the NARUTO Card Game’s first eurozone venues.
We read both official pages in full today. Their Merchandise sections read:
| Venue (dates) | Price in the Merchandise section |
|---|---|
| SPIEL Essen (Oct 22–25, Germany) | MSRP: $35 (+tax) |
| Paris Games Week (Oct 22–25, France) | MSRP: $35 (+tax) |
| Lucca Comics & Games (Oct 28 – Nov 1, Italy) | MSRP: $35 (+tax) |
All three official pages still carry the US dollar figure. The only euro price anywhere is on Lucca’s reservation page (Play-system); no page on naruto-cardgame.com carries a euro figure at all.
So this euro price did not arrive through an update to the official site — it was written on the page of the local operator handling registrations. We treat it as a statement on a booking page that the official site links to directly (we re-confirmed today, by reading the Lucca page in full, that it is the target of the “Playmat Ticket Page” button).
What someone buying a playmat at SPIEL Essen or Paris Games Week will pay is still not published officially, on the day before those events open. Those two venues also differ from Lucca in how you qualify to buy: only Tutorial Session participants are eligible (as written: “Only Tutorial Session participants will be eligible to purchase a playmat.” / “Eligibility to purchase the playmat is valid only on the day you attend a Tutorial Session.”). There is no open booking window of the kind Lucca has.
5. The first booking window opens today
Alongside the price, something happens today.
The Reserve Playmat page lists 20 booking windows. The first opens today, October 21, 2026, at 10:00 Italian time (Europe/Rome) — 17:00 in Japan (Italy is on CEST, UTC+2; Japan is UTC+9, a seven-hour gap).
Note that the four windows on the final day, October 25, shift by an hour in Japanese time. EU summer time ends in the early hours of October 25, so that day’s 10:00, 12:00, 14:00 and 16:00 fall under CET (UTC+1) — 18:00, 20:00, 22:00 and 00:00 the next day in Japan. The page only states that times are shown in Italian time (Europe/Rome); it carries no note about the clock change.
- Oct 21, 10:00/12:00/14:00/16:00→ collect Oct 28 at the same hour
- Oct 22, same four windows→ collect Oct 29 at the same hour
- Oct 23, same four windows→ collect Oct 30 at the same hour
- Oct 24, same four windows→ collect Oct 31 at the same hour
- Oct 25, same four windows→ collect Nov 1 at the same hour
Each booking day corresponds to the event day exactly one week later (as written: “Each reservation day corresponds to the event day exactly one week later.”). At the time of our check all 20 windows read “Coming soon”, with “There are no available windows at the moment.” in the page footer. The page tells you to reload when a window opens (“All times use the Italian time zone (Europe/Rome). Refresh the page when a window opens.”).
The purchase and collection terms are unchanged from our October 15 reading.
| Item | Terms (in summary) |
|---|---|
| Collection | On site only, in the booked slot. No shipping |
| Admission | A Lucca Comics & Games ticket for the collection day is required |
| Payment | Electronic payments only |
| Limit | One playmat per person for the whole event (checks are carried out) |
| Cancellations | Released back onto the same booking page from around 17:00 each event day |
Attending a Tutorial Session is not listed as a condition of purchase. That is the sharpest difference from SPIEL Essen and Paris Games Week. (Tutorial Session registration itself opened on October 14 at 11:00 CEST; the full 63-session schedule is in our October 15 article.)
6. What is still unknown
- How many are sold each day (the wording is only “A limited number … each day”)
- Euro prices at SPIEL Essen and Paris Games Week (still the dollar figure on the day before they open)
- Which VAT rate applies to €42.90, and how it relates to US$35 and ¥3,850 (no official explanation)
- Whether the “-Arriving in 2027-” playmat can be bought on its own in Japan (sale through Premium Bandai at the BCG Fest Tokyo stop is confirmed; see our October 16 article)
- Whether “-Arriving in 2027-” and “-NARUTO vs. SASUKE-” are separate products (no official clarification; the US$40 vs US$35 conflict is covered in our October 18 article)
In summary
- Lucca’s playmat reservation page now carries “The playmat costs €42.90, VAT included.” — the first euro-denominated price for a NARUTO Card Game product
- Our October 15 statement that “the euro price is unannounced” is wrong as of today. The article, the preorder hub and the product page have been corrected
- The same product now has three published prices (¥3,850 tax incl. / US$35 pre-tax / €42.90 VAT incl.). Stripped of tax they all land on “35”, which looks like per-currency pricing anchored on 35 rather than currency conversion — with no official explanation
- The euro price appears only on Lucca’s booking page. The official pages for SPIEL Essen and Paris Games Week, opening tomorrow in the eurozone, still read
MSRP: $35 (+tax) - The first booking window opens today at 10:00 Italian time. All 20 windows read “Coming soon” when we checked
Current registration status is tracked on our preorder and lottery hub. We will reflect what happens after the windows open, and any euro price at SPIEL Essen or Paris Games Week, the same day we can confirm it.
